Puma is a German brand specialising in sportswear, footwear, sports equipment and accessories. Founded in the year 1948, Puma started as a manufacturer of sporting footwear especially soccer footwear. In the year 1954, the company gained prominence when the German national football team wore Puma boots in the World Cup. Puma is a premium sports brand in the current times.
Puma is present in the Indian market since the year 2006 and is headquartered in Bangalore, Karnataka. By 2022, Puma had expanded its network of physical retail stores in India to more than 480. It is also present on prominent e-commerce platforms, with e-commerce accounting for around 43% of the brand’s sales. Puma has been steadily increasing its local manufacturing base in India to align with the Make In India initiative of the Government of India.

Indian cricketer and former captain Virat Kohli is Puma’s brand ambassador since the year 2017. Olympic medalist and badminton icon PV Sindhu became Puma’s brand ambassador in January 2025. Indian pace bowler Mohammad Shami signed up as a brand ambassador of Puma in October 2023. The captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, has been endorsing Puma products since January 2023. Olympic medalist and boxing champion MC Mary Kom is a long-time brand ambassador of Puma. In order to connect with the Gen Z, Puma signed up emerging cricketers Nitish Reddy and Ryan Parag as brand ambassadors in July 2024. Other sporting icons endorsing Puma include sprinter Duttee Chand, paralympic shooter and medalist Avani Lekhara and Olympian Sarabjot Singh.
